Originally scheduled for June 26th, the fashion show with Envyhart Modeling Agency was going to be the moment. I was super excited. Couldn’t wait. I had new pieces lined up, different models ready to walk, and it was going to be a whole thing.

But literally the day before — I got sick.

And not “a little under the weather” sick. I mean full-fledged, voice gone, coughing non-stop, stay in the bed sick.

Was it the flu? Was it COVID? Who knows. What I did know was that no matter how much I wanted to push through, I wasn’t going to make it to that show.

I was devastated.

Not only was I missing a moment I’d been preparing for, but I was supporting a fellow business — Envyhart Modeling — and had been doing fittings with some of their new models. I was looking forward to showcasing what it means to wear something designed for your shape, not just your size. I had rapport built, the vision was clear, and I was just genuinely looking forward to watching them shine.

But in true dramatic fashion (pun intended), Mother Nature stepped in.

On the day of the show, the skies opened up — thunder, rain, the whole bit. And even if I’d somehow managed to show up sick, the weather said, “Nah.” So the show didn’t go on — not without me.

We rescheduled for Wednesday, July 16, and by that point I was on the mend, excited, and ready to just enjoy the moment. I had different models this time, and I started to overthink it:

Do I switch the looks? Do I keep it simple?

Then I reminded myself:

Put them in pieces that make them smile. Let the joy do the rest.

And it worked.

Even with the bumps in the road, this night turned out exactly how it needed to.

When the energy is right and the pieces are made with intention, the joy shows up in every step.
