You don’t need to buy a sewing machine before you learn how to use one.

Want to learn to sew, but haven’t purchased a machine yet? Or maybe you own very little sewing equipment and aren’t sure where to begin. Try Before You Buy is a beginner-friendly class that gives you hands-on experience with a home sewing machine before you invest in one of your own. No previous sewing experience is required.

Small-group instruction. Limited to six students. The venue address and arrival instructions will be provided to registered students before class.

What you’ll learn

• How a home sewing machine works, including its major parts and controls
• Basic machine operation through guided, hands-on practice
• Differences between common machine features and what they mean for your sewing
• What to consider when shopping, based on the kind of sewing you want to do

You’ll have time to work with machines, ask questions, and get comfortable with the basics. This isn’t about selling you a particular machine. It’s about helping you understand what you need so you can make a smart first investment.

• Two hours of hands-on instruction
• A Home sewing machine to use during class
• All supplies and practice materials

• Take-home resources to reference when you’re ready to purchase

What to bring

Just yourself and your questions. No sewing machine required. No supplies required. Everything needed for class is provided.

This class is designed for complete beginners and anyone exploring sewing before investing in equipment. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how sewing machines work and practical resources to help you decide what you need before committing to this new journey.

Registration policy

Each registration reserves one seat for the November 7, 2026 class. Space is limited to six students.

All sales are final. With at least seven days’ notice, your registration may be applied once as a credit toward a future Toni & Tucker Co. class. Within seven days of the event, registration may be transferred to another attendee, but no refund or class credit will be issued.

If Toni & Tucker Co. cancels or reschedules the event, registrants may choose a refund or class credit.
